Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!

 Hello Second Grade Families,

Since you are reading this, you have found the special place where I will post information for you to read each week. This blog is only viewable by individuals with the link, which you will get to your email every Sunday to remind you of the new post. You can access it on the school website through the link too. Please come back to this blog each week to read my weekly newsletter. It will save us a bit of paper shuffling! And, when I have a few extra minutes, sometimes I will also post photos of special memories we make! Each week, I will email you the link on Sunday afternoon, but you are welcome to just save the link on your phone or computer and visit it at a time that is convenient for you each week - without opening your email. The newest "news" will always appear at the top of the blog (you might have to refresh your page).

I am so grateful to be teaching in Princeton again this school year. This is my 17th year teaching. I started my career here in Princeton at St. John Catholic School where I taught first and second grade for 4 years. Then, I spent one year teaching first grade for Wautoma Area School District before switching to a Reading and Math Intervention Specialist role there for the following 8 years. I really enjoyed my time at Parkside in Wautoma and wasn't even sure if I was ready to leave when I did, but I am so happy that I took a risk and made a change! Three years ago, I came to Princeton because it is our home district for our family. So, this is my fourth year teaching second grade in Princeton (again), and I am really enjoying the experiences this job has brought into my life.

My family lives between Princeton and Neshkoro where my husband and I built our home about 10 years ago. We have been married 13 years and have two daughters who attend school right here in Princeton. We also have a 2-year-old Cockapoo named Ruby. We have one more addition to our family coming this fall - a baby boy due in late October or early November.

I plan to be on maternity leave from the time baby is born until about the end of January. I will give you more information about the long-term sub when I have that information to share with you!

We are so lucky to have a student teacher with us to kick off our school year this September. She will be with us for first quarter, through Halloween! Ms. Fox is so excited for the opportunity to work in our second grade classroom. Here is her introduction letter (paper copy at open house).

I will keep this first post short, since I am giving you a paper newsletter at open house. I want you to have it for referring back to whenever needed. It will include all kinds of information regarding which specials we have which days, classroom routines, and special information. After that, I will keep the paper newsletters and information to a minimum. Most of the papers you see coming home will be your child's homework, class work, and assessments. There will also be district papers and community flyers too.
